The Housing Help Centre (THHC) is a registered non-profit agency whose mandate is to help people access and maintain affordable and safe market rent accommodation.
We recognize that everyone deserves safe, secure and affordable housing. We provide a holistic approach to combating the issues that result in homelessness. Dedicated to the principles of fairness and compassion, we seek to promote self-sufficiency and equitable access to community resources.
Our housing help program works with youth, families, newcomers to Canada, and seniors who are homeless, under-housed, and/or at risk of losing their housing.
Affordable housing is essential to health and well-being. But in the Greater Toronto Area, it can be difficult to access. If you need help finding a home, we’ll work with you one-on-one to determine your housing needs and find you affordable market-rate housing or subsidized housing. We can help you fill out applications for subsidized housing in the GTA or update any applications you have in progress.
The Housing Help Centre can also help you if you’re having trouble with your existing housing. We offer mediation services between renters and landlords, and can help you if you need to contact the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB). We also provide financial assistance if you’re behind on your rent or utilities and live in the City of Toronto.
If you’re a landlord who has properties available to rent, we can match you with potential tenants. We'll visit your units to learn about your preferences for tenants and to learn more about what utilities and amenities you have available. We maintain a database of available properties in the City of Toronto and York Region, and are always happy to connect with you!
We speak a variety of languages, including:
If you need help in a specific language, please let us know.
Please note: THHC provides services to Ukrainian Newcomers by Ukrainian speaking workers, with a focus on accessing market rental housing, housing related financials, and other settlement services such as access to language training, upgrading skills and connecting with communities in GTA. Services are provided through electronic media ( e.g. ZOOM, telephone), or in person, where possible. We refer clients to other organizations for assistance with obtaining employment and accessing health services.
The Housing Help Centre is grateful for the assistance provided by the following organizations: The City of Toronto, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Ontario Trillium Foundation, United Way Toronto and York Region, York Region
